Alcyone: one of the 7 Pleiades
one of the 7 pleiades … [it is] supposed to be the star around which our universe revolves
(EA 679)
This does not make astronomical sense, as our local cluster of more than thirty galaxies has a centre somewhere between our Milky Way galaxy and Andromeda (with which our galaxy will merge in a few billion years’ time). Beyond that, in the “local” universe there is the Great Attractor, a gravitational anomaly in intergalactic space in the direction of the constellation Centaurus, around which it is likely that most of the galaxies in our section of the universe orbit, although the universe is too young for our galaxy to have made even a single journey around it. Perhaps “revolves” indicates that Alcyone is an esoteric hub, especially as the universe itself doesn’t revolve around any particular centre.
In Esoteric Astrology it is called “the Star of the Individual—governing Humanity” (EA 198) and the “star of intelligence”, with third ray connotations, and is at the root of all major changes where the mind is involved as a facet of the third ray (EA 200, 201). As such, it was active in the previous solar system which was ruled by that ray. Alcyone impregnated the universe with the quality of mind
and was present at the time of individualisation. Presumably, it will also be present when the Aquarian era initiates the role of humanity as true mediator (as the personality ray of Earth’s planetary logos) to the animal, vegetable and mineral kingdoms.
It may also represent the evocation of the Earth’s Monadic energy which will occur when the planetary soul (Hierarchy) and personality (Humanity) are aligned.
