Alcyone: one of the 7 Pleiades
one of the 7 pleiades … [it is] supposed to be the star around which our universe revolves (679)
This does not make astronomical sense, as our local cluster of about twenty galaxies has a centre somewhere between our own Milky Way and Andromeda. Beyond that, in the ‘local’ universe there is the Great Attractor, a gravity anomaly in intergalactic space in the direction of the constellations Triangulum Australe (The Southern Triangle) and Norma (The Carpenter’s Square)—positioned between the constellations of Libra and Scorpio. Perhaps ‘revolves’ may be intended to indicate that Alcyone is an esoteric ‘hub’.
In Esoteric Astrology it is called “the Star of the Individual—governing Humanity” (198) and the “star of intelligence”, with third ray connotations, and is at the root of all major changes where the mind is involved as a facet of the third ray (see 200-201). As such, it was active in the previous solar system which was ruled by that ray. Alcyone ‘impregnated the universe with the quality of mind’ and was present at the time of individualisation. Presumably, it will also be present when the Aquarian era initiates the role of humanity as true mediator (as the personality ray of the planetary logos) to the animal, vegetable and mineral kingdoms.
It may also represent the evocation of planetary Monadic energy which will occur when the planetary soul (Hierarchy) and personality (Humanity) are aligned.
