The “Holy three”
Not a triangle, but a magnetic field (in the occult sense) called the “Holy three”. See also the higher correspondence: Taurus-Capricorn-Aquarius
These are the 3 rulers of Gemini, and worked together at a crucial point in the emergence of the 4th (human) kingdom from the joining of the 3rd animal and 5th soul kingdoms. The sequential rays 3, 4 and 5 are also of significance in this triangle, as is the 2nd Ray in Gemini itself.
These three planets act as a working triplicity in the third sign of Gemini, and:
it is the aid they give to our Earth which produces the appearance in form of the dual energies of soul and personality. The energy of the three rays pouring through these planets is productive of the eternally recurring, divine triplicity and its work of releasing the soul from the influence of form. The Earth as a non-sacred planet is subject to the ray of the personality of the informing Life. (edited from EA 363)
The relationship of Venus to the Earth as the soul and personality, and the “two brothers” symbolism of Gemini:
lies behind [the Earth as] uniquely the “planet of releasing sorrow and of purifying pain,” the energy producing these releasing factors being focussed through Mercury and Venus upon our Earth. You will see… the significance of that triangle of planets […] these are related to the Personality of our planetary Logos:
- The Earth—planetary vital body.
- Venus—planetary astral vehicle.
- Mercury—planetary mind.

Individualisation
It was the activity of Venus—under the influence of Gemini—which produced the great crisis of the individualisation when the two kingdoms [the 3rd animal kingdom and 5th kingdom of Souls] approached each other. Venus, Mercury and the Earth then set up a magnetic field which made the intervention of … Sirius and the dual stimulation of Gemini effective in producing significant results of which the fourth kingdom in nature [humanity] is the expression. The fact that Gemini is the Third sign and embodies … a third potency enabled it to reach … the third [animal] kingdom and produce that reaction which resulted in the individualising of the humanising of its higher forms of life. - Earth (Ray 3)
- Is the material dwelling-place of the 4th kingdom—humanity. Also relates Gemini to Sagittarius—the only two constellations with the Earth as a ruler—“guaranteeing [humanity’s] soul development, the unfoldment of form as an expression of that soul, and leading … to the very gate of initiation in Capricorn.” (EA 356, also see below) and the “endless Way of which Nirvana itself is but the open door”. - Mercury (Ray 4)
- “mediates between the higher and … lower [minds]” and between soul and personality.
- Venus (Ray 5)
- also the hierarchical ruler of Capricorn, thus showing the power of the mind and its place and purpose in connection with both the major human crises: Individualisation and Initiation.
These latter two (Individualisation and Initiation) mark the entry and exit points of the human kingdom—after the third initiation we enter the fifth kingdom or “Kingdom of Souls”.
The 3 rays of these planets represent the etheric, astral/emotional and mental and are “essentially dedicated to the development of [humanity] and are polarised in the Earth…” There is also a relation between Gemini-Sagittarius-Capricorn in this process, although these signs are not given as a triangle. Venus relates certain pairs of opposites
(EA 356) and Mercury stimulates the sense of distinction that mediates firstly between self and other, then between various aspect of mind. For humanity on Earth, the rays of these two rulers of Gemini embody embryonic understanding of causes and conditions resulting [from their interplay] and also of the Plan.

The Earth and Gemini-Sagittarius
In the Earth a great balancing process is going forward between the two great streams of cosmic energy [emanating from Sagittarius and Gemini]. This condition, aided and influenced by Mercury and Venus, produces the somewhat unusual situation in our planet. (EA 362)
The 5th kingdom strives to penetrate beyond the influence of these three planets:
As the Old Commentary has it:
[One] who sees in the dark light of Shamballa penetrates to that which lies beyond our little sphere to that which can be sensed behind the holy triangle [these three planets]…—the “holiest three” of Taurus-Capricorn-Aquarius. (EA 593-4)
